Sukkanya Ramgopal

Sukkanya Ramgopal is celebrated as the first woman ghatam player in Carnatic music.
A disciple of maestro Vikku Vinayakram, she broke barriers in a male-dominated field.
Her innovation, Ghata Tharang, features ghatams tuned to different pitches for melodic expression.
She also founded Sthree Thaal Tharang, an all-women percussion ensemble.
Honored with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and many others, she is recognized worldwide.
