ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Murad Ali Khan

Murad Ali Khan is among India’s foremost Sarangi players. He is one of the few people still working to keep alive the ancient tradition of playing the sarangi. He is the grandson of the legendary Sarangi exponent Siddiqui Ahmed Khan of the Moradabad gharana. His father, Ghulam Sabir Khan, was also a renowned Sarangi player. Murad Ali Khan learnt to play the instrument from his grandfather. Coming from a family of musicians, Murad Ali Khan's evolution as an artiste of repute was a given. But it is his devotion to preserving tradition, his courage to follow his passion and his diligent seeking that have led him to be the master that he is today.
